From the age of seven, Stephen Egan was captivated by the hum of the shop, eagerly watching his father, Matt, work long hours. As the years passed, that fascination grew into a passion. Steve became determined to prove his skills to his father—even when Matt felt he wasn’t quite ready for such responsibility.
One day, when Matt was away, Steve decided to take matters into his own hands. He carefully belt sanded a full set of doors, ones meant to be laminated. Matt, concerned for his son’s safety, had previously forbidden him from using the heavy sander. But when he returned, Matt was impressed by the precision and quality of Steve’s work. Proud of his son’s craftsmanship, he began to entrust him with more responsibilities around the shop.
In his drive to impress his father, Steve hadn’t yet realized that the work he was doing wasn’t just for his father—it was for a customer, too. That lesson has stayed with him ever since.
Today, Steve brings the same unwavering commitment to craftsmanship to every project he oversees, applying the intuition and pride his father instilled in him nearly 50 years ago.
Steve resides at the Jersey Shore with his wife and four children.
